RECIPIENTS OF THE HTN PETER HOWARD CULINARY SCHOLARSHIP 2008 ANNOUNCED
To recognise exemplary passion, commitment and culinary excellence of an apprentice or trainee chef, HTN offers a Scholarship annually, together with Restaurant & Catering NSW (R&C NSW). The winner was announced by R&C NSW CEO Robert Goldman at the R&C NSW Regional Awards for Excellence recently held at Lindemans Ben Ean, Pokolbin.
Garreth Robbs, a talented second year HTN Apprentice Chef hosted by Chez Pok, Peppers Guest House, won the major scholarship from a well-contested field of applicants. Garreth has been awarded up to $6,000 to be spent on an overseas study tour and plans to travel to Spain in 2009 to further his culinary knowledge.
Two HSC students Kaitlyn Hindricks (Deniliquin High School, Deniliquin) and Hannah Whittaker (St Josephs College, Banora Point) were named the recipients of the HTN Peter Howard Future Chefs Scholarship. This opportunity provides travel and accommodation for a supported “hands on” practical experience with one of HTN’s leading host trainers based in Sydney.
The significant contribution Mr. Peter Howard has afforded both the commercial and domestic sectors of the cooking industry, led HTN to name their Scholarship programs in his honour – as a fitting tribute to Peter’s contribution to the hospitality industry over so many years. |
